Savadatti Yellamma Temple

About 40Km from Dharwad is this temple, dedicated to Yellamma or Renuka Devi . A pious princess married to the saint Jamdagni, blessed by Gods and is worshipped as a Sakthi. A great and gripping mythological story is behind the temple. Situated in Belgaum district of North Karnataka, on a hillock, it is surrounded by beautiful landscape. A fairly big temple, is thronged by pilgrims from all over Karnataka in particular. Oct- Feb is usually the festival time in this temple. This 16th Century temple was constructed by Chalukya and Rashtrakoota dynasties. There are shrines for Ganesha, Shiva and Parusurama in complex. Parusuram is a son of Renuka devi and who had slained her as per the orders of his father and brought her back alive as a boon from the very father. The temple has long winding stairs up and down and across to reach the main shrine. A must see pilgrim spot in North Karnataka.

It was a grateful feeling visiting the temple was feeling peaceful and blessed.🙏🔱
